After illustration crafting, poster design is what as close as we designers can get to art, speaking of freedom of graphic expression.
The Poster's work is one of quick and fast comunication of a message, being a publicitary, a promotional, a cultural, a political or a social one.
In this section of my website I'm pressenting some of my more significant poster design work. Pleas click on the one you like to see it fully with a description and maybe a brief story about it.
My first poster proyect was for a cultural magazine's design contest. The magazine was called La Ruta del Arte (Art's Way). The contest consisted on designed a promotional poster for the magazine that could be used as its cover.
The design I did was the one i'm showing here. This is a simple postere where I'm showing a way to the publication's logo. This way is at the same time a very abstract representation of Dali's face, and it's followed by the phrase: Let art cross your way.
I should add that I didn't win the contest, it was on the finalist only. However I like to share it because is my official design work. Besides it was published inside the winning issue magazine.
This one of the posters I designed with the theme of violence for Proffesor Ñico's poster design workshop. This was one of the eleven posters I showed on the explo "Warning: sharp posters".
In one of my illustration workshops I was asked to design a poster inspired by a mexican illustrator, using a similar technique as the illustrator uses.
I decided do it about JAMA (Juan Antonio Martínez Anaya), who utilizes several collage techniques to create stunning illustrations.
This poster was entirely hand made, using a mix of illustration techniques and stitching together with glue the several pieces of hand drawn materials. The phrase accopanyng the poster was "From the pain calm JAMA is born".
This was one of the two posters I did to participate on the 7th International Poster Biennial in Mexico (7BICM).
This biennial's theme was Nature's rights, and it was about protection of the ecology. This poster represents a simple metaphor about identity and then is mixed together with an ecological theme.
This poster was also designed for the Professor Ñico's poster workshop. This time we had to make a poster about any musician's work, so I chose Juventino Rosas' "Sobre las Olas (over the sea waves)" waltz.
This poster also participated on the expo "warning: sharp posters".
The illustration I did for this poster was made with a mix of watercolor and digital manipulation, so I could change the scales, tones and volume of the ocean.
This was the other one of the two posters I did to participate on the 7th International Poster Biennial in Mexico (7BICM).
As the theme was Natures rights, in this second proposal I used another metaphor, this time represented with 3d graphics of an anatomical accurate heart covered by nature.
Also designed for the Professor Ñico's poster workshop, this poster had to be of humorous nature. We had the option of choosing whatever theme we wanted, and I chose Feminism.
Some people have told me they have troubles understanding what is this poster about. The rest of the people usualy just say Ouch!.
This poster also participated on the expo "warning: sharp posters".
As the theme of this biennial was "Desertification", I decided to send this simple poster about excessive and/or illegal logging.
In this event I participated with two posters.
